Larry Dennis & Wild Rice

Rock/Soul/Blues Guitarist Larry Dennis became a “Lover of The Guitar” at age five watching Scotty Moore backing Elvis Presley on The Ed Sullivan Show.  At age nine while attending summer camp a fellow camper showed him his first three chords ala “Louie Louie” and “Puff The Magic Dragon” forging an instant physical attraction between Larry and the instrument.

After receiving his first guitar for X-Mas and witnessing The Beatles Monumental Ed Sullivan Performance at age twelve he was “blown away” and “hooked” on Rock-N-Roll, Motown, R&B, and Mid-60’s Pop and began his performance journey gigging in a local cover band playing R&B hits of the day.

A Second “Musical Epiphany” occurred after experiencing Jimi Hendrix, which expanded his musical and sonic palette to include Classic Rock while attending college as a music student and working at a record store by day and playing covers backing Strippers at the Jewel Box on Baltimore’s Infamous “Block” by night.

In the late 70’s with the Blues scene exploding in Fells Point Larry formed the band ‘Wild Rice’ from seasoned players he selected from numerous Blues jams while maintaining a constant presence and profile in that Musical Baltimore Hotspot, Legendary for it’s bars, clubs and live music venues. The band blends Larry’s "Gritty Vocals and Guitar Magic" with Rock, Soul, Blues and Rock-N-Roll into a “Spicy Musical Gumbo” suitable for a wide variety of musical tastes Ala' the name “Wild Rice.”
